Richard Park, MD
Board Member

Dr. Richard Park is the founder and former CEO of CityMD, a leading urgent care company that has treated over 4 million patients through its 120+ locations in New York and New Jersey. Under Richard's leadership, CityMD grew successfully from a single-site startup medical office in 2010 to almost $500mm of revenues in 2019 through de novo site openings and medical practice acquisitions. In addition, he is a board certified emergency medicine physician with deep healthcare operating experience and is a successful serial entrepreneur and investor who has worked with companies from conceptualization through execution and multiple exits.

Prior to founding CityMD in 2010, Richard was an Attending Physician in the Emergency Department at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. As a physician educator he served as Associate Program Director and was voted Teaching Attending of the Year by the residents from 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006. He is a co-editor of McGraw Hill’s Intensive Review of Emergency Medicine. Richard received a B.S. in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and an MD from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

David Shih, MD
Board Member

Dr. David Shih is a board certified Emergency Medicine physician, co-founder of CityMD and former Chief Medical Officer and Executive Vice President of Strategy Health & Innovation. He completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at Long Jewish Medical Center and worked as an attending physician in Northwell’s emergency room at Huntington Hospital. In 2010, he brought his expertise and compassionate care to CityMD serving as their first Chief Medical Officer until 2017. He hired the first 100 physicians and trained all the medical staff. Dr. Shih has created multiple systems and process to help CityMD scale and to keep quality consistent. He created CityMD’s Academy training services and Aftercare services which are two operational key CityMD differentiators in the urgent care industry. In 2016, Dr. Shih helped achieved NCQA-PCCC Recognition for CityMD and, in 2017, UCAOA Accreditation for all sites. In 2017-2018, Dr. Shih and team worked with multiple insurance companies and health systems to create value based urgent care programs and ER reduction cost savings programs.

William Nestor, MBA

Will Nestor joined Ascend as an Operating Partner in 2021. Will is a transformative leader with a long and distinguished record of developing organizations, growing business, lowering costs, increasing quality, and improving operational and financial performance in hospitals, medical groups, and health systems. He has significant experience successfully managing multiple ventures, entities, service lines, departments, teams, and major enterprise projects.

Before joining the Ascend team, Will served as Chief Performance Officer & Corporate Counsel at Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc. where he helped turnaround, integrate, and operate hospitals, medical groups, and health systems across the country. Prior to joining Prospect, he served in various administrative and operational leadership roles at Mount Sinai Health System, where he contributed to growing and improving the organization’s size, profitability, and quality to rival the highest performing healthcare organizations in the world. Will also has significant experience in other related fields including but not limited to several years he dedicated exclusively to practicing law, working in healthcare technology, and serving in the public sector.
